Cops responding to ShotSpotter alert arrived so quickly, they saw the gunman drive away, officials say

CWB Chicago reported on a recent incident where Chicago police officers, responding to a ShotSpotter alert, arrived quickly enough to witness a gunman fleeing the scene. The shooting occurred on July 18, where four shots were detected. Officers pursued and arrested a 48-year-old suspect, who was allegedly driving the getaway vehicle. A revolver was found in the SUV, and a 46-year-old man was critically wounded in the shooting. Judge Susana Ortiz ordered Van Buren’s detention, noting he fired “without provocation” into a crowd of about 20 people.
