When a gun is fired, the sound of a muzzle blast radiates outward, and the impulsive sound triggers acoustic sensors.

Gunshot is Detected & Located

ShotSpotter’s algorithm determines the location of the gunshot, as well as the speed and direction of the moving shooter.

Identify Vehicle & License Plate

The gunshot alert instantly triggers a multi-pronged technology response, directing PTZ cameras and capturing images from license plate readers to help identify the vehicle.

Gunshot is Reviewed

Analysts at the ShotSpotter Incident Review Center quickly audit the data and publish confirmed gunshots with speed and direction of the moving shooter to police.

Police Respond

Alerts are sent to dispatch centers, patrol officers’ smartphones and MDTs for immediate response. The entire process takes less than 60 seconds.
